Cooks River Inspired

A lot of my works have been conceived on the banks of the Cooks River (between Earlwood and Hurlstone Park NSW).

For the painter that I am, this river has a feminine energy. Even though she’s not  the cleanest body of water, but I have such strong feelings for her. Her curves are attractive and her presence sets the mood of the surrounding area. Also the river has a memory; she remembers what the suburbs of Sydney used to be like before the industrial revolution; she remembers how the jellyfish used to float under the bridge and also how sharks would come to visit her, brought by the King Tide. So our Cooks river she is not just a river, but the keeper of time.
